Yihao Mao

Hi, I’m Yihao Mao, an emerging interior designer based in Brisbane and currently studying a Bachelor of Interior Design at Griffith University.

I am interested in creating thoughtful interiors that balance functionality, atmosphere and human experience. My design approach is informed by careful research into people, place and context, with particular attention to spatial planning, natural materials, light and detail.

I am especially interested in residential and hospitality design. Through concept development, sketching, technical drawing and 3D visualisation, I explore how interior spaces can support everyday activities while creating a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Outside design, I enjoy visiting exhibitions, photographing architectural details and discovering how different cultures use and experience space.

I work with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. I am currently seeking opportunities to continue learning, collaborate with others and contribute to thoughtful interior design projects.
